There were speculations that India and Pakistan would not face each other on the cricket field, and this was the thing that put the tournament, which is to be held in the T20 format, under serious doubts. However, things have now been cleared as the tournament is confirmed to be held from September 9 to 28. It is now confirmed to be held from September 9 to 28 in the UAE. India and Pakistan have been placed in Group A, with the arch-rivals facing off in the group stage on September 14 (Sunday). The other teams in the group A are Oman and UAE. In Group B, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong will fight it out.

India will begin their campaign against UAE on September 10 (Wednesday) followed by the clash on September 14 against Pakistan. Their final group game is against Oman on September 19.

Two teams from each group will then qualify for the Super 4. In the Super 4 all teams would face each other once, in a round robin format. The two qualified teams from Group A will face each other on Sunday, September 21. This means that if India and Pakistan qualify in this stage, they will face each other on this day.

The two top teams with the most points at the end of the Super 4 stage will qualify for the final. This means that if India and Pakistan finish 1 and 2, then they will play each other in the final on September 28 (Sunday)
