South Africa U19 opener Jorich van Schalkwyk created a world record which Vaibhav Suryavanshi failed to achieve 20 days back. Schalkwyk etched his name in history books in the first Youth ODI of the tri-series against Zimbabwe U19. The right-handed batsman became the first player in history to score a double-century in Youth ODIs. Schalkwyk slammed 215 off just 153 balls he faced. Batting with a strike rate of 140.52, Schalkwyk smashed 6 sixes and 19 fours.
Courtesy of his heroics, SA U19 put on a huge total of 385 on the board. The visitors bowled out the home team for a mere total of 107 to win the game by a huge 278-run margin.
Interestingly, Schalkwyk came close to breaching the 200-run mark in his previous game against Bangladesh U19. He remained unbeaten on 164 off 156 balls in the chase to the target of 264. SA completed the chase in 44.4 overs at the loss of seven wickets.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi missed out on a double-century
Vaibhav Suryavanshi missed out on scoring a double-century. The left-handed batsman scored a quick 143 off 78 balls in the fourth Youth ODI of the series against England on July 5. Batting with a strike rate of 183.33, Suryavanshi hit 10 sixes and 13 fours in his innings.
He departed on the first delivery of the 28th over. Suryavanshi could have even scored a triple-century if he batted for the complete 50 overs. Just 20 days after Suryavanshi missed out on a double-century, Schalkwyk achieved the milestone.
