Rishabh Pant continues to shatter records despite walking out to bat with a fractured toe in a heroic effort that will go down in cricket folklore as the Indian vice-captain braved pain to help the team's cause on Thursday (July 24) in the fourth Test at the Old Trafford Cricket Stadium in Manchester.
Pant suffered a nasty injury on the first day of play on a delivery from Chris Woakes and had to retire hurt. Later, it was revealed that he would not keep wickets in the match by the BCCI, while several reports have claimed that the 27-year-old will not play the fifth Test at the Oval.

Pant, who walked out of play on Day 1 batting at 37, came back and added 17 crucial runs to the scoreboard and helped India post a total of 358. The wicket-keeper batter completed another half-century before being dismissed by Jofra Archer for 54. Pant now has a 50+ score in five of the seven innings this series, with a tally of 479 runs at an average of 64.42.
He now has the most runs by a wicket-keeper in a Test series in England by a player from either the home or away team, and broke a record set 27 years ago.

Rishabh Pant Breaks MS Dhoni's World Record
Pant registered his 9th 50+ score on English soil in Test cricket, making him the first visiting wicket-keeper batter from a visiting team to achieve the feat in England. The record previously belonged to Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni.

Pant's tally of nine is also the most by a visiting wicket-keeper batter in any country, with no other away player apart from Dhoni having eight in any nation. This comes just a day after Pant became the first player to score 1000 runs as a visiting wicket-keeper batter in England. No other player had achieved even 800 run,s with Dhoni second on that list to.
Pant also has four centuries in England, which is the most by any visiting keeper. No other WK batter has more than two tons in the country.
