Rishabh Pant has been the biggest star for India in the ongoing series against England for the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. The star wicketkeeper-batter has now caused major headaches to the team management during the ongoing fourth Test of the series at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. He was hit on the right ankle by a ball from Chris Woakes on Day 1 and was then retired hurt and taken to the hospital for scans. While he might be out for the rest of the series due to a fracture on his toe, Ishan Kishan was initially considred as his replacement for the final Test at The Oval, a surprise name has come in as his replacement.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batter Narayan Jagadeesan, who played with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, has been picked as a surprise replacement for Pant for the 5th Test vs England which is set to start from July 31 (Thursday).
The BCCI initially considered Ishan Kishan to replace Pant, but Jagadeesan was picked after it emerged that the Jharkhand keeper will also not be available due to injury.
However, Jagadeesan is unlikely to feature in the playing XI as Dhruv Jurel will be the likely replacement of Pant as the wicketkeeper-batter in the final Test of the series.
