Rishabh Pant showed courage and resilience that will be spoken about for years to come as he walked out to bat on the second day of play in the ongoing fourth Test between India and England at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.
The Indian vice-captain has suffered a serious injury to his foot, but still decided to walk out to bat after Shardul Thakur's dismissal as India lost their sixth wicket in the first session of play. The wicket-keeper batter's commitment was recognised by the jam-packed crowd, who gave him a standing ovation in unison with both Indian and English fans hailing him. Even fans on social media saluted the star Indian cricketer for his efforts, reminding cricket lovers of the efforts by Graeme Smith and Anil Kumble in the past.

Pant walked out, evidently in pain, and was limping towards the crease to join Washington Sundar. He ensured India did not lose any more wickets before the lunch break as the visitors went back with a healthy score of 321-6 on board.
Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Pant will not keep wickets in the game again but will bat as per the team's requirement.
The 27-year-old is reported to have suffered a fractured toe and is set to miss the fifth Test at the Oval and likely to be out of action for six weeks. Dhruv Jurel is set to take the gloves in this match and is set to replace him in the playing XI for the final match of the series.
Pant has been in red-hot form with the bat with a tally of over 450 runs in the series, which included two centuries and a couple of half-centuries too.
India are 2-1 down in the series and a victory in Manchester will set-up a thriller next week in London.
