India are all set to take on England in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester from July 23 (Wednesday). India are currently trailing in the series by a margin of 1-2, especially after the heartbreaking loss in the 3rd Test of the Series at Lord's. If India lose the match, this would mean that they would lose the series with a match still to be played. Team India have suffered a lot of setbacks due to injury ahead of the game, and captain Shubman Gill has announced one major tweak they would make in the playing XI, also hinting at a debut.
There were reports that Akash Deep would be ruled out of the 4th Test due to a groin strain. In the press conference before the Manchester Test, Shubman Gill confirmed that Akash Deep is indeed injured alongside Arshdeep Singh, who was ruled out due to a cut on his bowling finger.
"Akash Deep is unavailable, so is Arshdeep but we have good players in the team to pick twenty wickets. It is not ideal to have different bowlers but I was prepared," the captain said.
Anshul Kamboj Can Debut
After Arshdeep Singh's injury, India brought in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Haryana fast bowler Anshul Kamboj in the squad as cover. In the press conference, Gill confirmed that Kamboj is very close to making his debut. One of either him or Prasidh Krishna will play
"He is very close to making debut. We will see between Prasidh and Anshul tomorrow," Gill confirmed.
Prasidh Krishna's performances left a lot to be desired in the first Two tests, after which he was dropped for the 3rd match. Hence, it is Anshul Kaboj who is likely to make his debut in place of the injured Akash Deep
