Mohammed Siraj's pre-match press conference ahead of the fourth Test match between India and England went off-track as a reporter seemingly from the home country questioned the star pacer over the recent controversy in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) where the scheduled match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan was called off.
Siraj was visibly dumbfounded on hearing the question and replied, 'I don't know.' Despite the 31-year-old being visibly uncomfortable with the question, the journalist continued to go on the topic and asked him if India would play Pakistan in ICC events. The star pacer once again replied, 'I don't know what to say.'

What Is The WCL Controversy?

The WCL, which is a private league consisting of retired players, was set to see India and Pakistan play each other on Sunday (June 20) at Edgbaston. However, there was massive outrage in India over the match, which would have taken place just three months after the Pahalgam Terror attacks that led to Operation Sindoor.
After a few Indian players pulled out of the match, the game was eventually called off. However, it is worth noting that the league is not affiliated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and International Cricket Council (ICC). Bollywood legend Ajay Devgn and Harshit Tomar are the co-owners of the tournament.
However, the status of the 2025 Asia Cup is in limbo, where India and Pakistan could face each other for the first time since the armed conflict between the two countries. However, it is not yet clear when and where the tournament will happen. Although India is the offical host nation, it is likely that the competition will happen in a neutral country.
India and Pakistan are set to play against each other in the 2025 Women's World Cup and 2026 Women's T20 World Cup.
If the Asia Cup does not happen, the earliest the men's teams could face each other will be in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
