India and England are set to square off in the fourth Test of the five-match series at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23 to 27. The home team is 2-1 ahead in the series. Another win at this stage will see them clinch the series with a game left. The fourth Test is a must-win fixture for India, who haven't won a Test series in England since 2007. India are dealing with a couple of injuries before the fourth Test.
Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the series due to a knee injury while Arshdeep Singh isn't available for selection for the fourth Test match. India recently called up Anshul Kamboj and he was part of the net session on Monday (July 21).
The former Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer could now end up making his Test debut in the 4th Test. The Times of India has reported that Anshul could make his Test debut in Manchester.
The report adds that he bowled for more than 45 minutes in the nets and had conversations with Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar. Gambhir is India's head coach while Agarkar is the chairman of the men's selection committee.
Jasprit Bumrah is set to spearhead India's pace attack in the 4th Test. He will be assisted by Mohammed Siraj. Anshul could be one of the pacers in the final XI.
He was part of the India A squad for the unofficial Test series against England Lions and has the experience of playing in England. Anshul, who took a 10-fer in an innings in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy season, has 79 wickets in 24 first-class matches. He plays for Haryana. He has a half-century in red-ball cricket. Anshul scalped 5 wickets in three innings in the unofficial Test series.
