Sarfaraz Khan's latest pic became one of the talking points in cricketing circles on Monday (July 21). The right-handed batsman shared a pic of his transformation on his Instagram story. He has lost 17 kgs. His pic quickly went viral on social media as the fans went gaga over his new look. The pic also reached Kevin Pietersen, who namedropped Prithvi Shaw while reacting to it. Pietersen has never worked with Prithvi or Sarfaraz in IPL. He joined Delhi Capitals (DC) before IPL 2025.
"Outstanding effort, young man! Huge congrats and I’m sure it’s going to lead to better and more consistent performances on the field. I love the time you’ve spent reorganising your priorities! LFG! Can someone show Prithvi this please? It can be done! Strong body, strong mind!" Pietersen wrote on X.
Prithvi was dropped from the Mumbai cricket team in the 2024/25 season due to fitness issues. He lost his place in the Ranji Trophy at the start of the season. He did make his return for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but again got dropped for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
"In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it. Even while batting, we could see he was troubled reaching to the ball. His fitness, discipline and attitude are poor and it is pretty simple, there cannot be different rules for different players. Even the seniors in the team have started complaining about his attitude now," an MCA official had told PTI in December 2024.
Prithvi has now switched his base to Maharashtra and he will play under Ruturaj Gaikwad's captaincy. Ruturaj is likely to be available for the majority of the season.
Talking of Sarfaraz, he was part of India A squad for the unofficial Test series against England Lions but missed out on making it to the Test team for the five-match series. He was part of the team in the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
