Two of India's greatest off-spinners, Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin, left the internet stunned in a recent chat after discussing the murmurs on the internet of the ex-Indian cricketers being jealous of each other in a chat that went viral on social media.
Ashwin opened up on the discussions and questioned the former India spinner on the widespread discussion and also clarified that it was a remark that people made from their own perspective of things rather than reality. Harbhajan at that point questioned the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star if he felt so.
“This whole jealousy bit, before I allow you to answer that, let me clarify something. People look at everything from their perspective. For example, if they are passing a comment on me, they believe that others would see the world through their eyes," said Ashwin in a chat on his YouTube Channel on his flagship show 'Kutti Stories with Ash.'
"Their comments that you (Harbhajan) are jealous of this person who is interviewing you today (Ashwin), what would that be about, Bhajji pa?" Ashwin added.
“Do you think I am jealous of you? You are sitting with me today, and we have spoken at length. Do you think I am that kind of person?," said Harbhajan.
Ashwin's reply to Harbhajan's query became the talk of the town on social media as he told his former teammate that it was not a big deal if that was not true and compared it his situation with Washington Sundar.
“Even if you were jealous at one point in time, I think it’s justified. That is my point, and I will never take it wrong because we are all human. Naturally, it is bound to be like that. Some people believe I retired because Washington Sundar is in the thick of things. All of this is the perspective of others,” Ashwin stated.
Ashwin made his Team India debut in ODI and T20Is in 2010 when Harbhajan was a key part of the team and the duo were both part of the squad when the Men in Blue lifted the 2011 World Cup under MS Dhoni's captaincy.
Ashwin later made his Test debut in 2011 after Harbhajan was dropped from the team and ended up replacing him as India's lead spinner. Later, the duo played a few Test matches together too.
In the same conversation, Ashwin revealed that Harbhajan once called him to clarify the social media chatter over his remarks.
