India are all set to take on England in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester from July 23 (Wednesday). This is a must-win game for the Indian team, especially since they lost the third Test at Lord's in heartbreaking fashion and went 1-2 down in the series. If they lose this fourth Test then they will concede defeat in the series with a match to go. Captain Shubman Gill will be looking to play a key role in this game. He has been in great form with the bat, but missed out on scoring in the last match.
Shubman Gill has scored 607 runs in the series, at an average of 101, with a highest score of 269. If he scores 25 more runs in the match, then he will have 632 runs. He will then become the Asian batter with the most runs in a bilateral Test series in England. He will overtake Pakistan great Mohammad Yousuf, who scored 631 runs against England in England back in 2006.
Shubman Gill Eyeing Multiple Other Records
If Shubman scores 146 more runs in the 4th Test against Manchester, he will have 753 runs in this series. This will become the most runs scored by a batter in a single India vs England Test Series. He will break the record of Graham Gooch, who scored 752 runs in the series at England in 1990.
Shubman Gill also need 107 runs to cross Yashasvi Jaiswal as the Indian batter with the most runs against England in a Test Series. Jaiswal had scored 712 runs in the 2024 series against England in India.
