In a dramatic turn of events before the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan fixture at the World Championship of Legends, several former Indian cricketers have chosen to withdraw from the game amidst widespread outrage on social media. According to reports in the media, among the notable withdrawals are Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina, who reportedly took the call in response to the anger following the recent lethal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed on April 22.
Earlier, Raina and Harbhajan were among those who had previously publicly condemned the attack, joined calls urging a reassessment of sporting ties with Pakistan.
With tensions running high, the two legends have opted out “on moral grounds,” expressing solidarity with the victims and supporting the wider sentiment for caution in continuing matches against Pakistan during this volatile period.
