India are currently embroiled in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England in a five-match Test Series, which they are currently trailing by a margin of 1-2, after the heartbreaking 22-run-loss at Lord's. Hence, the 4th Test at Manchester, which begins from July 23 is a must-win game for the side, as a loss would mean that they would lose the series with a match to go. Shubman Gill will be the key player with the bat, given his superb form so far in the series. The Indian captain could not perform well in the last game, and is now on the verge of a massive record, if he could score big at Manchester.
Shubman Gill currently has 607 runs in the series against England. If he scores 146 more runs in the 4th Test against Manchester, he will have 753 runs in this series. This will become the most runs scored by a batter in a single India vs England Test Series. He will break the record of Graham Gooch, who scored 752 runs in the series at England in 1990.
Shubman Gill also need 107 runs to cross Yashasvi Jaiswal as the Indian batter with the most runs against England in a Test Series. Jaiswal had scored 712 runs in the 2024 series against England in India.
Rishabh Pant Eyeing Records In Manchester
Rishabh Pant has 2677 runs in the World Test Championship (WTC) history for India. Rohit Sharma holds the record for the most runs for India in WTC history, with 2716 runs to his name. If Pant scores 40 runs in the fourth Test, he has the chance to overtake the former India Test captain and break his record.
Pant has also hit 20 sixes in 2025. He needs two more sixes in Manchester to become the Indian wicketkeeper-batter with the most number of sixes in a calendar year.
