India are all set to take on England in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester from July 23 (Thursday). This is a must-win game for India as they have gone 1-2 down in the sries after the heartbreaking loss at Lord's, and a loss would mean that India would lose the series with a game still to be played. Jasprit Bumrah has been India's standout bowler throughout the series, but is only slated to play three out of the five games, out of which he has already played two. Hence, Indian fans will be sweating over the fact as to whether the star fast bowler would be available for the Manchester Test. Australian legend Greg Chappell, however, has a different take on the Bumrah situation.
In an interaction with ESPN Cricinfo, Chappell said that the obsession and over-dependence on Jasprit Bumrah is not needed, as India has won plenty of matches without the star fast bowler. The captain needs to make sure that everyone in the team does their job perfectly as a team.
"A word on Bumrah: the obsession with whether he plays or doesn't is missing the point. India have won plenty of Tests without him recently. The key is not individual brilliance, it's collective performance. Teams win when everyone does their job. When the captain makes sure each player is clear, confident, and committed to the plan. That's the formula," Chappell said.
Will Jasprit Bumrah Play 4th Test Vs England?
According to a report by Sky Sports, Jasprit Bumrah is all set to play in the fourth Test between India and England at Manchester. Prior to the start of the series, Bumrah had confirmed that he would play only three matches of the five-match series owing to managing his workload. He did not play the second match of the series at Birmingham.
