India Champions Vs Pakistan Champions WCL, Edgbaston Weather: Rain Threat Looms Large On Blockbuster Clash (WCL/AP)
India and Pakistan are all set to turn Sunday, July 20, into a blockbuster weekend with an epic clash in the World Championship of Legends (WCL). India-Pakistan relations are at an all-time low after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, and there are calls to boycott playing Pakistan in ICC events. India have not yet given a confirmation about playing Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Yet, the WCL match has created a huge buzz. The WCL does not come under the ICC and the BCCI, so the apex bodies do not have any say whether the teams should play in the tournament or not.
The Pakistan team will be led by Mohammad Hafeez and have the likes of Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, among others. The India Champions will be led by Yuvraj Singh, and will have Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, among others. However, according to reports, a few India players might boycott Pakistan in the clash. There is no official confirmation so a clear picture will be out once the playing XIs are announced.
Rain Threat Looms Large
While all eyes are on the IND vs PAK clash, rain could play spoilsport during the match. According to the weather forecast, there is rain predicted on the match day. While the forecast is for rain before the game, the weather in Edgbaston is unpredictable and can have an impact on the game.
Pakistan Off To Winning Start
Meanwhile, Pakistan Champions started the campaign with a five-run win over England Champions. India and Pakistan met in the final last year, and India emerged victorious to win the tournament. The Men in Green will be looking to make it two in two and get closer to the final, but India will be a tough team to beat.
