Jasprit Bumrah is arguably the biggest match-winner for India in the current team. Bumrah didn't play the second Test, but he is still India's second-leading wicket-taker of the series, with 12 wickets in two games. Ahead of the series, it was decided that Jasprit Bumrah would only feature in three Tests as part of his workload management policy. He was rested from the second Test, and if the team sticks to his three-match policy, he will have to sit out of one of the two must-win matches.
India are trailing 1-2 in the series, and if Bumrah doesn't play, it will be a huge setback to India. It's a tricky situation, but with series on the line, former India coach Anil Kumble wants the Indian management to play Bumrah in both Tests. Kumble said Bumrah will get a sufficient break after the series, and he could opt out of the following home series if he wants to.
“I would certainly push for Bumrah to play the next game because that’s crucial. If he doesn’t play and India end up losing the Test, that’s it, the series would be done and dusted. Bumrah should feature in both the remaining Tests. Yes, he mentioned earlier that he would only play three matches, but there is a long break after this. He does not need to be part of the home series if he wants rest. But right now, Bumrah should be playing the next two,” Kumble said.
India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate also hinted that Bumrah might play the Manchester Test.
