India suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of England in the second Test match at Lord's. Ravindra Jadeja kept India's hopes alive and remained unbeaten on 61 off 181 balls in India's quest for the target of 193. The star all-rounder played more than 35 overs with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj combined. Bumrah scored 5 off 54 balls while Siraj hit 4 off 30 balls. His wicket in the 75th over marked an end to India's innings and they lost the Test match by 22 runs.
Few days after the Test match, the BCCI shared the video from India's dressing room. India head coach, Gautam Gambhir heaped praise on Jadeja while addressing the team. "That was an incredible fight. Fight from Jaddu, that was absolutely brilliant," he said.
India lost 4 wickets in the final session of day 4 during the chase. Yashasvi Jaiswal departed for a duck while Karun Nair only managed to scoe 14 off 33 balls. Captain Shubman Gill departed for 6.
Akash Deep, who was sent as a night watchman, was cleaned up by Ben Stokes for 1 off 11 balls. None of the batters could spend enough time on the crease and Jadeja's efforts didn't prove to be enough in the end.
England now lead the five-match Test series 2-1. A win in the fourth Test will see them clinch the series. The fourth Test is a must-win game for India. The series in the fourth game will see them level the series 2-2.
The fourth Test of the series will be played from July 23 to 27 at Old Trafford in Manchester. Kennington Oval will host the last Test of the series from July 31 to August 4. India haven't won a Test series in England since 2007. They have only managed 3 Test series wins in England since their Test debut in 1932.
