After playing a key role in helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) win the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), Jitesh Sharma has taken another major move to renew hopes of a comeback into the Indian team and is set for a major move in the off-season ahead of the new season.
As per a report by ESPNCricinfo, Jitesh will leave Vidarbha ahead of the 2025-26 Domestic season and play for Baroda. Jitesh will play under Krunal Pandya's captaincy, with whom he shares a close relationship, having played together for RCB in the 2025 IPL. This move also means that Jitesh will now be teammates with the Team India superstar Hardik Pandya, who is Krunal's younger brother.
Jitesh has been playing for Vidarbha, the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy Champions as well as the runners-up for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The wicket-keeper batter did not play a single game in the team's Ranji Trophy success, where the team's captain, Akshay Wadekar, is also a stumper and among the most consistent players in the country.
However, Jitesh was the captain of the side in the T20 format, where they reached the quarter-finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). He was also a key part of the List A team, which reached the final under Krunal Pandya's partnership.
The move to Baroda could help Jitesh play red-ball cricket, having not played the format since January 2024. Overall, he has played 18 first-class matches in his career and has made 661 runs at an average of 24.48.
Jitesh has not played for India since January 2024, when he featured in a T20I against Afghanistan. He was part of the Indian T20I squads for the series against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, and South Africa, but did not play a single game.
In the 2025 IPL, Jitesh made 418 runs at an average of 29.85 with a strike-rate of 149.28.
