Virat Kohli recently made waves when he retired from Test Cricket, just days before winning his first-ever IPL trophy with RCB. His retirement announcement came just days before the announcement for the squad for the Test Series vs England. Kohli had also announced his retirement from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024 final. He will now only play for India in ODIs, and might next be seen in action in October in the ODI series vs Australia. However, after retiring from two other formats of the game, and more than 4 months after his last game for India (Champions Trophy 2025 final), Kohli has smashed yet another record.
Virat Kohli's previous highest T20I rating points in the ICC Rankings were 897. However, on July 16, it was amended to 909. His highest rating points in Tests for 937, and it is 911 in ODIs. He is now the first player in the history of the game to breach 900 rating points in the ICC rankings of all three formats of the game.
After the amendment in the ranking points of Virat Kohli, the legendary Indian batter becomes the second Indian after Suryakumar Yadav to breach 900 rating points in the ICC batting rankings for the shortest format of the game.

When Will Virat Kohli Return To Action For Team India?
A report by Newswire has revealed that the BCCI are in talks with Cricket Sri Lanka to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in the month of August after the tour to Bangladesh was postponed. The Sri Lankan board's decision to postpone the 2025 Lankan Premier League, originally scheduled to take place in July-August, has cleared the way for the series.
If all things go well, this will be the series where fans might see Virat Kohli back in action donning the Indian jersey.
