Almost exactly four years ago to the day, it was in England that Harleen Deol became the darling of the cricketing world and earned praises from all corners after producing one of the greatest catches of all time, which went viral all over social media. On India's visit to the country in 2025, Harleen has once again provided a moment that will get social media talking, but this time not as kindly to the star batter.
During the first ODI between the Indian and England women's cricket team on Wednesday (July 16) at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton, Doel was looking set for another big score before a massive brain-fade left the Women in Blue in major trouble.
On the fourth ball of the 22nd over with India in a comfortable position of 102-2 in the chase of 259, Harleen attempted to take a single off Charlie Dean's bowling with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur on the other end. The 27-year-old tapped a delivery from the spinner and appeared to have reached the crease comfortably despite a direct hit by Davidson Richards.
The on-field umpire called for a third-umpire's referral, but most people expected Deol had reached the crease and were ready to start the game again. However, what the replays showed stunned the cricket world as the Indian batter did not ground her bat or feet, which were both in the air when the ball hit the stumps.
Doel was given out by the third umpire, and the clip immediately triggered reactions from cricket fans.
