Jannik Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz to win his maiden Wimbledon title. Sinner outplayed Alcaraz during the game, and should have won 3-0 had he held on to the lead in the first set. Alcaraz broke Sinner twice in the first set to win the set 6-4. Sinner improved his game in the second set and was at his devastating best. He wasn't broken in the match again and picked up a clinical 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory to win his maiden Wimbledon.
Sinner also avenged his defeat to Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open, where he failed to convert three championship points. This was Sinner's fourth Grand Slam, and he is now just one Grand Slam behind Carlos Alcaraz, who has five Grand Slam titles to his name.
Sinner had a near-flawless run to the title and barring a blip against Grigor Dimitrov, where he trailed 2-0 and qualified after Grigor pulled out due to injury, he was unstoppable. He didn't drop a set in any other game before the final and won three back-to-back sets against Alcaraz after losing the first.
Alcaraz, meanwhile, looked out of his element. He played a five-set against Fabio Fognini and at least dropped a set to Struff, Rublev and Fritz. He played his worst game in the final, where he looked short of ideas and also made plenty of unforced errors, including seven double faults.
