A long club football season will finally conclude on Sunday with a blockbuster clash between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as the European giants go head-to-head in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

This is the first-ever summit clash of the tournament in its new format which was expanded to 32 teams and took place across a month for the first time in 2025. Earlier, it used to a competition that took place across a couple of weeks with only a club from the host nation as well as the champions of each continent taking part.

PSG are playing a final for the third time, while Chelsea are in their third summit clash. The Blues lost the final in 2012 to Corinthians before winning the title for the first time in 2022 after beating Palmeiras in the final.

While FIFA's decision to expand the Club World Cup gives the chance from across the globe to compete against each other in a quadrennial format, the world football governing body also announced a huge prize money for the event, which made the tournament a top priority for clubs from across the globe and even the ones from Europe.

The total prize money pool of the tournament ( combined prize money for all clubs) is a stunning $ 1 billion (Rs. 8585.59 crore) (approx).

Each team were awarded $2 million/win and $1 million per draw in the group stage. Meanwhile, teams reaching the Round of 16 were awarded $7.5 million, and quarter-finalists were awarded $13.125 million and semi-finalists received $21 million dollars. The losers of the final will get $30 million while the winners will earn $40 million.

Both Chelsea and PSG had identical records in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup group stage , with two defeats and one draw. Hence, their earning from sporting merit is similar so far.

While Chelsea and PSG are expected to earn near the maximum limit, being two of Europe's richest, the exact amount is unknown
