In what can be termed as a clash of the two future legends in tennis, Jannik Sinner is set to battle it out against Carlos Alcaraz in a massive match in the final of Wimbledon 2025. Sinner will be aiming for his maiden Wimbledon trophy, while Alcaraz will be gunning to achieve a rare hat-trick of titles in the most prestigious Grand Slam event. The match is set to take place on July 13 (Sunday) at 8.30 PM IST. Both Sinner and Alcaraz have created history, as they have achieved something that has never been done in 52 years.
Sinner and Alcaraz are the no.1 and no.2 ranked men's singles players in the current ATP rankings. They held the same positions when they faced off in the final of the French Open earlier this year. In the Australian Open 2025 which happened in January, Sinner faced off against Alexander Zverev. While Sinner was the top-ranked player even then, Zverev was ranked no.2.
This is the first time since the ATP rankings were introduced in 1973, that the no.1 and no.2 ranked players in men's singles category have played the finals of three Grand Slam events in a single season.
