India's 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to dominate the headlines. Since his debut in IPL 2025, he has been the cynosure of all eyes. He has become the youngest batter to hit a hundred in the IPL, and also the fastest among Indian batters. His 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans is the fastest in IPL 2025. And Suryavanshi shows no sign of stopping. He recently smashed the fastest ODI hundred in U-19 youth cricket against England, reaching the three-figure mark in just 52 balls. He ended the innings on 143 off just 78 balls.
His achievement in Worcester has made him hungry for more, and he has now vowed to hit a double hundred in youth ODIs. “I didn't know that I had created a record,” Suryavanshi told BCCI, expressing his unawareness about breaking the record. “After making 100, our team manager, Ankit sir, told me that I created a record today,” he added.
“I will try to score 200 in the next match. I will try to play the full 50 overs. The more I score, the more the team will benefit,” he said. The video came after Suryavanshi revealed that India captain Shubman Gill’s 269 at the Edgbaston Test inspired him to chase the double ton in U-19 cricket.
The 14-year-old opener followed his 52-ball hundred with a gritty 33 off 42 balls as India lost the fifth youth ODI by 7 wickets. India, however, won the series 3-2.
The highest individual score in U-19 cricket belongs to Sri Lanka’s Hasitha Boyagoda, who scored 191 against Kenya in 2018. For India, Ambati Rayudu holds the record with his unbeaten 177 against England in 2002.
