India are all set to take on England in the second Test of the five-match series at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham from July 2 (Wednesday). India are coming into this game on the back of a 5-wicket loss at the hands of the hosts in the first Test at Leeds. Hence, Shubman Gill's men would be looking for a win to level the series. For that, India are looking to make massive changes in the playing XI. In fact, there might be three players who could make their way into the playing XI.
According to a report by The Indian Express, Sai Sudharsan might be dropped for the 2nd Test. He made his debut in the first Test, scoring a duck in his first outing in the longest format. He then went on to hit 30 in the second innings. He is likely to be replaced by all-rounder Washington Sundar in the playing XI. Sudharsan came in at no.3 in the last match, and in his absence, Karun Nair is expected to be promoted to this position.
India To Go With Three All-Rounders
In a desperate bid to win the second Test, India are set to go with three all-rounders in the playing XI. While Washington Sundar comes in, Ravindra Jadeja is expected to retain his place, the Indian Express report states. In fact, Jadeja, might move one place up to number 6 in this game.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is expected to come in as the third all-rounder in place of Shardul Thakur, who had a poor outing in the first Test with both bat and ball.
No Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah is expected to miss the second Test vs Englad owing to workload management issues, in what comes as a big blow to Team India. While there were reports that Arshdeep Singh might replace him, the Indian Express report states that Akash Deep is expected to come in his place.
Prasidh Krishna, despite reports, will be present in the playing XI.
