The Asia Cup 2025 was in limbo after the Pahalgam terrorist attack and India's subsequent retaliation, Operation Sindoor, which soured the relations between India and Pakistan. Reports stated that India would not take part in the tournament, organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which is headed by Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. However, now, it looks like the tournament might finally go ahead. The likely schedule for the tournament has most likely been revealed. India might face Pakistan three times in a matter of 21 days, if things fall into place.
According to a report by The Times of India, the Asia Cup 2025 is likely to start on September 5 (Friday). The group stage match between India and Pakistan will likely be held on September 7 (Sunday). The tournament, which is set to be held in the T20 format, will take place in the Group Stage and Super Four format like the previous two editions in 2022 and 2023.
If Pakistan and India qualify for the Super Four, then they will likely face each other for the second time on September 14 (Sunday). The final, in all likelihood, will be played on September 21 (Sunday).
India was supposed to be the official hosts of the tournament. However, with India and Pakistan agreeing not to travel to each other's countries, the Asia Cup 2025 is likely to be held in the UAE.
When Will Asia Cup 2025 Schedule Be Officially Out?
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is hopeful of releasing the schedule in the first week of July.
It must be noted that nothing concrete has been decided so far, and a formal decision could be taken next week. Asia Cup 2025 will be a six-team tournament, played in the T20 format, with India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the UAE competing for the title.
