India are all set to take on England in the second Test of the five-match series at the iconinc Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. The Shubman Gill-led side will be hoping for a comeback and level the series, after they lost the first match at Headingley by five wickets. The side are likely to be further dented by the absence of Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI, as he might not play the game due to workload management. Reports have stated that Arshdeep Singh is likely to replace Bumrah in the lineup. However, former India pacer Irfan Pathan has highlighted that a Mohammed Shami-like bowler is needed to replace Jasprit Bumrah..

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Irfan Pathan stated that he wants Akash Deep should be in the playing XI in place of Jasprit Bumrah, because he has looked in good rhythm in the nets. He also said that the right-arm pacer is a bowler who is similar to Mohammed Shami.

“If Bumrah is not there, then who should come into the side in his place? Akash Deep, from what's been seen in the nets, seems to be getting into his rhythm. I feel that he is the Shami mould type of bowler,” he added.

Irfan Pathan pointed out that Akash Deep's straight seam deliveries can trouble the England batters , especially because of the late movement. Hence, if the English batters try to attack him, Akash Deep can pose a problem.
