The Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team are eyeing to bounce back from the loss in the first match as they prepare to level the series against England in the second Test, which will be played at the iconic Edgbaston in Birmingham, from July 2 (Wednesday). Ahead of the much-awaited match, former Indian selector Sarandeep Singh has advised Team India to back Prasidh Krishna and drop another player from the line-up.

Sarandeep Singh's Advice For The Second Test

The former selector in an exclusive conversation with Times Now stated that the visitors do not need to make too many changes to the team. He said if Bumrah is fit, India should play him. He advised the Indian management to back Prasidh Krishna and drop Shardul Thakur to make space for Kuldeep Yadav.
“India doesn’t need to change much on the side. If Jasprit Bumrah is fit, play him. One change that can be made is that Shardul is dropped and Kuldeep Yadav is brought in. If Kuldeep plays, it’ll be big help for Team India. This is a huge test series, 5 matches, and we’ve only lost one so let’s be positive,” Sarandeep told Times Now.
Many people questioned Prasidh Krishna's high economy in Leeds, but Sarandeep believes he will be key for India in Birmingham after Bumrah.
“You should go with Prasidh Krishna. Yes, he’s been expensive, but he got wickets as well. He has a good pace and can bowl bouncers as well so he shouldn’t be dropped for Birmingham test. He needs confidence as he’s a good fast bowler. India will definitely come back stronger. If there’s grass on the wicket, then Prasidh with his height and his pace and his bounce will be more helpful in the 2nd test match," he added.
India had a really dominating outing with the bat despite the lower order not contributing. However, their underwhelming bowling and fielding performance cost them the first Test match against England. India were once again too reliant on Bumrah. They would now be hoping to level the five-match Test series at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
