While the world knows Jasprit Bumrah as the world's best bowler and among the greatest pacers to ever grace the sport, his love story is a fairytale story, whose origins also lie on the cricket field. The 31-year-old is married to Sanjana Ganeshan, one of India's finest sports anchors.

The couple had previously declared that they met each other during the 2019 World Cup, where Ganeshan was working for the official broadcaster while Bumrah was part of the Indian squad led by Virat Kohli.

The couple have now revealed that it was in November 2020 that the Indian pacer proposed for their wedding. The incident happened during the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL), which was being played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under strict COVID-19 protocols, with all teams and media personnel part of a bio-bubble.

While Bumrah was playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI), who won the title that year, Ganeshan was staying in the Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Bubble and hosting a show, which showed the off-field journey of the players through the tournament.

The couple revealed in an interaction on Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra's Who Is The Boss Show On Youtube that Bumrah informed the organisers to allow a bubble-to-bubble transfer and propose to Ganeshan after the Knight Riders were knocked out of the tournament in the league stage. While staying in different bubbles, MI and KKR were staying in a team hotel in the same city.

"That was during COVID times. There were bubbles for every team. We were lucky. She was in KKR, and I was with the Mumbai Indians. Both were in Abu Dhabi. I took a ring with the hope that the tournament would end early. The whole tournament, we could not meet due to the bubble, only saw each other on the ground. She was out

"I was the only one happy," Ganeshan joked at Bumrah, referring to KKR's early exit from the tournament.

"I had to tell people. They got a bubble-to-bubble transfer done. I did everything myself because did not want to tell anyone. Got a cake myself. Decorated myself. In my room." Bumrah stated.

"I come to the room. He is telling 'Come to the balcony.' I said I have just come, at least give me water. He is like 'no, no, go to the balcony," said Ganeshan.

"The candle was near the beach. Due to the wind, they were blowing out. I had arranged it with great difficulty," Bumrah added.

"He hung a towel," described Ganeshan.

Ganeshan and Bumrah married each other in March 2021 in Goa and were blessed with a son named Angad on 4th September, 2023.
