A bizarre moment prevailed at Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 when Jason Holder of LA Knight Riders bowled a fuller-length delivery that hit Shayan Jahangir’s off stump — but the bail refused to get dislodged. The incident left everyone at the ground stunned. Holder went for a referral, but the umpire declared Jahangir of Seattle Orcas not out. The incident happened at a crucial juncture of the match. After Holder dismissed opener Josh Brown for a two-ball duck, the Orcas bounced back through a steady and valuable partnership between Jahangir (43 off 31 balls) and Aaron Jones (73 off 38 balls). The duo shared a 119-run stand for the second wicket while chasing 203 set by the LA Knight Riders.
After Jahangir was dismissed by Tanveer Sangha, Shimron Hetmyer smashed 64 off 26 balls, including four fours and six sixes. He played the match-winning knock just 24 hours after finishing off a last-ball thriller against MI New York. Although Holder took the wicket of Jones, it was never enough for the LA Knight Riders to make a comeback.
Even though Tanveer Sangha dismissed the dangerous Jones, Hetmyer and Rovman Powell ensured Seattle Orcas won the match without any hiccups. In the end, Holder unfortunately missing the dismissal of Jahangir allowed the Seattle Orcas to mount a comeback.
After this win, the Seattle Orcas rose to fourth spot with four points from seven matches, while the LA Knight Riders remained at the bottom of the league with one win from six matches.
