India have won the last two white-ball ICC events - the T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Blue would now have their sights set on the ODI World Cup 2027. But there is a T20 World Cup in between, and the team would leave no stone unturned to win the silverware.

India will begin preparations for the ICC events from the Bangladesh tour, which will follow the ongoing Test series in England. India will kick off the Bangladesh tour with the ODI leg from August 17, while the T20I series will get underway from August 26.

The ODI series will mark the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who are only active in the 50-over format, having announced their retirement from Test cricket ahead of the tour. The ODI squad could see several players, who are part of the Test squad, being rested. This includes Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah among others.

Along with Kohli and Rohit, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh could be the batters in the squad. Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, and Washington Sundar should be the all-rounders, while Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and someone like Prasidh Krishna are likely to be the fast bowlers.

Since the T20I World Cup is just a few months away, India are likely to field a full-strength squad; however, captain Suryakumar Yadav could miss out as he recently underwent surgery for a sports hernia. Sai Sudharsan could be picked in the squad given his IPL heroics. Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, and Shreyas Iyer should also find a place.

Nitish Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Hardik Pandya should be the all-round options, while Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi should be the bowlers.
