India did not have a great start to their five-match series against England, as they suffered a defeat in the first Test at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds by 5 wickets, thus trailing the series by 0-1. One of the key performers in the match for India despite the defeat was KL Rahul, who scored a lot of runs, including a century in the second innings. In fact, Rahul has been in good form, as he even scored a entury for India A in the final unofficial Test vs England Lions before the series. Now, his Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani has made a big revelation about a sacrifice he made.
In an interaction with The Times of India, Hemang Badani stated that he really liked the fact that KL Rahul wanted to go to England early and play the final unofficial Test vs England Lions to get some practice. He also revealed that his newly born daughter Evaarah is not travelling with him initially. Hence, it was a huge call to take for a young father like Rahul.
"I really liked the fact that he was someone who said, ‘I want to go to England early. I want to play the side game.’ Forget about the hundred he got — that came later. The intent — that’s what matters. The intent to be there early, to be prepared, to be with the side. Let’s not forget, he’s a young father, and I don’t think his child is travelling with him initially. So for him to say, ‘Country over my child’ — that’s a huge call," Badani said.
"He could’ve easily said, ‘I'm not playing the side game anyway, I’ll just go straight to the Test match.’ But he didn’t," he added.

" I Care For This Team" - KL Rahul

Hemang Badani also revealed that KL Rahul had stated before the Test series that he wanted to go t England early because he cares for the Indian team.
"KL made a statement I remember ahead of the Test series: ‘I care for this team, and I want to be here.’ He wanted to go to England. I could see the hunger in his eyes and in his words. In the absence of Rohit and Virat, he becomes the senior-most batter — and he has played that role really well,"
