Prithvi Shaw is a perfect example of why discipline is what sustains success beyond early potential. Shaw was seen as the future of Indian cricket, with many even comparing him to Sachin Tendulkar, but it didn't take long for him to fade away. There were flaws in Shaw's batting - nothing extraordinary, and all he needed was to work on it and come back stronger.
Shaw, however, lost his way. He gained weight, took everything for granted, and got into bad company - a total recipe for a disaster. Shaw didn't realise his mistake until last year when he was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team, wasn't picked in the Vijay Hazare Squad, and even went unsold in the IPL auction. Shaw, however, has got a reality check and is now fixing the jigsaw of life.
In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Shaw said that the world will soon get to see the Prithvi Shaw of old. Shaw added that life teaches a lot of lessons and he has learned a lot from his past experiences, adding that he is focused on the positive aspects of life.
Shaw also revealed that he is spending as much time on the field as he used to during his early days, adding that he is prioritising domestic cricket as it is the gateway to his return to the Indian cricket team.
Shah was further asked why he always gets himself into controversies, to which he gave a hilarious response and said he is like Jethalal, the lead character in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma, saying that the controversies always chase him.
Shah had earlier said that he now believes in himself and is on the right track to get things back in place.
"I am on track now. I have gone back to basics now. The hard work I used to do 5 years ago, I think I have started that routine again. I believe in myself. I don't know how many people believe in me or not. But I believe in myself. I know how to get there. That's why I am doing all this," Shaw told News 18
“But one thing that dad has said. Only Prithvi Shaw can bring himself back there. No one else can. So I have left everything,” he added.
