FIFA World Cup pitch conditions in the US has come under intense criticism with players and coaches expressing anger over the condition. Paris St-Germain manager Luis Enrique said the "ball bounced like a rabbit" while Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham stated that the grounds are not up to the mark.
"I wouldn't imagine a NBA court full of holes. What I really care about is the state of the field of play, and I say this on the day we've won. The ball bounces almost like if it were jumping around like a rabbit,” Enrique was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"Lumen Field is an example. It used to be artificial turf and now it is natural grass and they have to water it by hand - they did so at half-time but the field was dry again in 10 minutes," he explained.
"For our game, this is a problem. It's very different from European pitches. The grass is different and therefore, it is not so easy to have the same smoothness to play our style - but we did adapt well and we're very happy," he added.
"The pitches aren’t great at all,' Bellingham admitted. 'It holds the ball up. The ball barely bounces. It’s tough on the knees as well. Hopefully, it’s something that someone will look at, going into next year," he added.
"It’s important we protect the players as well as giving the fans a great spectacle and giving them great games like today," he said.
