Prithvi Shaw remains one of India's biggest 'what if' stories as he was seen as the next big thing from India, while many also labelled him as the next 'Sachin Tendulkar.' While Shaw's career has gone downhill since, the 25-year-old has revealed that Sachin continues to play a big role in his life.
Reflecting on the rough phase in his career, Shaw revealed that while his father has been his biggest support system after that it has been Sachin. The 2018 U-19 World Cup-winning captain revealed that the Indian cricket legend has known him since a young age, since him and his son Arjun have been teammates and friends since the age of 8-9. The Indian opener revealed that Sachin has continued to maintain trust in him to turn his career around
"My biggest support system is my father, but after him. He knows a lot. My Arjun and I have been together since we were 8-9. Sir was also used to be there. He has seen. Hardly two months ago. He was practising at MIG for the master's league. I was also there. At such a time, you need a mentor who gives a spark.
"He still believes in me. 'Prithvi, I will have belief and I will continue to believe.' He has seen me. He has trust. 'Get back on track. Everything is still possible. 13-14 years.' That belief is very precious to me. Like dad believes and 2-3 friends," said Shaw in an interaction with News24 Sports.
Talking about Shaw, he is set to move away from Mumbai ahead of the new domestic season in a bid to turn around his career. Last year, the youngster was left out of the state's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad while being dropped from the playing XI in the Ranji Trophy mid-way through the season.
